Denis
Denis makes large-scale, energetic artworks driven by instinct, rhythm, and motion. His creative process is physical and full-bodied - he stands at the easel and fills the surface with rapid, vigorous marks in pastel or charcoal before covering it with layers of thick paint, often applied by hand. He’ll then scratch back into the surface, revealing earlier lines or carving out bold shapes, often triangles or other motifs.
Alongside this recent body of work, Denis loves making clay sculptures, often coiled pots or animals, sometimes incorporating found objects, and always painted bright pink - his favourite colour.
