Volunteer with Artbox

Join Artbox London as a Creative Studio Volunteer

Are you passionate about art and inclusion? We're looking for dedicated volunteers to support our artists in a creative and social studio environment on a weekly basis.

About the Role

Our workshops run Monday to Saturday, from 10am–1pm and 2–5pm. Volunteers commit to attending the same workshop each week, providing consistent support and helping build meaningful connections with our artists. We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months, which is vital to offering our artists the stability and trust they need to thrive.

Why the Commitment Matters

It costs Artbox London around £250 per volunteer in administration and DBS checks, so your commitment helps us make the most of these resources and continue building a strong, supportive community.

Many of our artists find change challenging. Having familiar, consistent volunteers makes a real difference — helping artists feel safe, supported, and able to build confidence and express themselves creatively. A regular, friendly presence over six months allows positive relationships to grow, which is at the heart of what makes our studio such a special place.

What You’ll Gain

In return for your time and dedication, you will:

  • Be part of a warm, welcoming, and supportive studio environment

  • Gain hands-on experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and/or autism

  • Have opportunities to develop and use your skills in other areas of the organisation

  • Receive regular guidance and check-ins from our team

  • Be eligible for a written reference after completing your 6-month commitment

We Welcome You

Artbox London is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. We strongly encourage applications from individuals and communities that have faced systemic barriers to workplace inclusion.

DBS Information

To volunteer at Artbox London, you will need an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, as our work involves supporting vulnerable adults. If you don’t already have a suitable DBS check, Artbox can arrange this for you.

To complete the DBS process, you'll need to provide original identification documents — such as a valid passport or driving licence, along with proofs of address like bank statements or utility bills. Please note that we cannot accept downloaded documents or screenshots; we must see the original paper versions or official hard copies.

This process is a standard safeguarding requirement for anyone volunteering with vulnerable adults in the UK and helps us ensure a safe and supportive environment for everyone in the studio.

How to Apply

If you’re interested in becoming a studio volunteer, please read the Role Description below and complete the application form. Shortlisted applicants will be invited into the studio for an informal interview and a short taster session, where you'll have the opportunity to meet our team, get a feel for the space, and spend some time with our artists. This helps us get to know you better and gives you a chance to see whether the role feels like a good fit.

Come be part of something creative, meaningful, and inclusive:
