Hanni

Hanni lives with athetoid cerebral palsy, is non-speaking and a wheelchair user.

She enjoys painting at Artbox, often on a large scale - she uses her hands, brushes or textured combs to apply her marks, coating the canvas in sweeping, textured colour. She’ll often add string or other materials to build texture, and has recently begun incorporating collage - black-and-white images from her life are layered into the paint, lending the pieces a deep personal resonance.

Hanni often collaborates with fellow Artbox artists, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, creating joyful, tactile works that capture her sensitivity, happiness, and moments of frustration with honesty and beauty.
