Loane

Loane creates colourful, expressive works that reflect her spirit, joy, and resilience as a blind artist. Since joining Artbox in 2020, she has explored a wide range of materials - layering rhythmic marks in pastel or paint, often using Blu Tack to guide her composition by touch. Her work sometimes incorporates scent, using incense and spices, while recent experiments with drypoint etching allow her to feel where her marks land. Loane is especially energised by the physical act of making, particularly in processes that involve big movements, like screen-printing or winding the press wheel. She’s a much-loved part of the Artbox community, warmly referring to everyone as “my friend”, and her guide dog, Otis, is an adored and cuddly studio assistant. Loane also performs and records music under the name Bonnyphile.
