Rivka

Rivka’s work is bold, technically skilled, and unapologetically direct. She combines figurative drawing with text and sculptural materials - tinfoil, foam clay, plastic spoons - to create artworks that speak of the experiences of living with disability. Her portraits, slogans, and sculptural objects offer both critique and encouragement, advocating for greater understanding and respect. “Just because we have special needs,” she says, “doesn’t mean we don’t have a mind.” Rivka’s art is about being seen clearly and taken seriously - especially by those who might look past or through her. Though often rooted in struggle, her work is bright, assertive and full of hope.

She’s also a generous and energetic presence in the studio: chatting, singing, drawing cartoons for others, and helping make Artbox a more open, joyful and honest place.
